Housing Success Story

Anthony Antoine has been housed since January 2020, since then he has interviewed for several jobs, but couldn’t work them because he needed a more reliable mode of transportation. He reached out about getting a bike from CRR and CRR was able to get him a bike and protective gear. Now he is able to keep his job and get to work on time. Mr. Antoine's goal is to get his trucking license to go back to driving trucks and he is well on his way.

Giving Others a Break!

The housing programs at CRR have successfully served over 400 individuals the past two years. With 80% of clients maintaining housing, 100% referred to employment services, with 30% successfully placed into employment.

The programs in addition to housing placement, provides each individual, vocational training support, resume writing, job search and job placement support, transportation services, referral to healthcare providers to support the client’s medical needs and food supplies. Once housed, the team provides timely intervention to address problems that jeopardize economic stability. All CRR Case Managers work together with other programs within CRR to update and support community resources for participants.

COVID-19 further worsened the ability for people experiencing homelessness to become stable. With the Houston unemployment rate at 9.9 percent at the end of June, and with limited employment opportunities, it is imperative that as a community, the housing service providers work together to provide training opportunities that will give clients the necessary skills for the jobs that are currently available and opportunity to apply for jobs in industries that are projected to rebound must faster as stay at home orders are lifted.
